They were the hit of our holiday party and I am looking forward to making heart shaped ones for Valentine's Day. A few suggestions--use a brownie mix and make sure it is thoroughly cooled before making sandwiches. After each cookie is made, put it in the freezer immediately or they start to melt. Ice cream should not be melted, just a little soft. Too soft and it won't work. I am also going to try using a sugar cookie dough. I learned that the cookie has to be soft, not hard or it won't work. All in all,a real delight!

I'm sure this is a fine set, but $20+ is the wrong price. Something close to $5 is the right price.

Bullet Ice Cube Tray Review

(More customer reviews)This product is EXTREMELY deceiving. The actual mold is very small and it's hard as hell to get the bullets (which are as wide as a wooden pencil) out because they crack. The bullets aren't big at all, maybe 1/8th the size of a normal ice cube.

(More customer reviews)I love the idea of a durable ice cube tray. I've quite accidentally destroyed many plastic ones over the years, and I grow tired of adding more stuff into landfills needlessly. When i saw this, it was elated to think I'd have something that would be quite durable.
I'm torn about this product, for i like the concept. For 38 dollars with shipping, this thing should be built like a tank. Given how it's built, it should be [...] So I've given it 3 stars for this reason. The lever/cube mechanism (quality) is far too weak and thin---after all, i was looking for durability and longevity. I'm not confident that it will last for decades unless treated quite cautiously. In my first few trays and testing, I've put a sleight bend into the cube separators where the lever puts pressure on it. *It can be bent back* but anytime metal is flexed to the point of distortion, and flexed back, eventually it will crack if it happens enough. Now that i know, i can be more cautious with it, but as i said, it's not built like it should be for the price.Dimensions of tray interior where cubes are made: 4x10x1 (but as i said, fill to only half full, so 4x10x0.5) Smaller than i would have estimated from pictures, but still adequate in my opinion.
No instructions: A Recommended fill level would be nice. After my own little testing, I don't recommend over half full, maybe a bit less.
Freeze it with the lever down, as the description says. For someone with grip issues, do not freeze it with the lever up and try to push it down to separate cubes--the lever is not designed for stress in that direction.
One more thing: being all metal, I feel it certainly makes solid cubes faster than plastic trays ever will. As a single person, with a small cube bucket, i feel no need for more than one of these trays.

(More customer reviews)My wedding gift mixer (a Sunbeam Mixmaster) turned 33 a week before Christmas, and my husband thought it was time for me to have a new one. He gifted me on Christmas with the KitchenAid 5 Qt. Artisan in white. I love this mixer and leave it out on my counter, something I never did with the Mixmaster. I recently purchased the citrus juicer attachment from Amazon and am very pleased with it as well. I have not read all 109 previous reviews on this site, but I have read a few that were disgruntled because their Artisans did not mix well. I initially had the same problem with the beater/bowl clearance. It is very simple to remedy. There is a beater adjustment screw on the mixer and the manual describes how to make the adjustments. I got even better instructions by calling customer support at KitchenAid. The technician told me to drop a dime into the empty bowl, turn the mixer on (about setting 2) using the flat beater, and it should move the dime 1/4" to 1/2" each time it rotates around the bowl. This is the right clearance for the beater to mix everything at the bottom of the bowl, but not low enough to cause wear on the beater from constant friction with the bottom of the bowl during usage. I tweaked the screw setting 1/4 turn each time until I got that dime moving. At this setting, I can now beat a single egg white to stiff peaks in the 5 qt. bowl. That's impressive.
This mixer is as sturdy as a tank, and you can hear the quality as it mixes. Although I had previously purchased a KitchenAid mixer for my daughter as a gift, I would never have splurged on one for myself.I am so happy my husband thought I was worth it!

Hamilton Beach 51101 Single-Serve Blender Review

(More customer reviews)The other day I impulsivley went and bought a Hamilton Beach Juicer. When I got it home I hemmed and hawed, wondering if I should use it or not. Did I really want it? I started looking around the internet and realized what I really wanted was something to make smoothies or other fruit concoctions. I researched a few things like the Magic Bullet and Ultimate Chopper but both had mixed reviews. I was tempted to buy the Tribest blender because it had some good reviews here at Amazon but I could only find it online and it's listed at $60 - much more than what I really wanted to spend.
Instead, I went to my local Walmart and to see what they had. I saw the Hamilton Beach Personal Blender and it was priced for only $13.67 so I was interested. It's just me, so I don't need a huge and heavy unit taking up what little counter space I have. I also figured since that if I bought it at Walmart and that if I didn't like it I could easily return it.
I brought it home, looked over the manual and attempted my first smoothie. I threw in milk, strawberries, frozen raspberries and hit the button. I needed to blend it some more because of the raspberries being frozen. Live and learn, I should have done those first. I put in some ice and blended it some more. It came out wonderful!
The jar itself can be used as a serving glass. I probably will only use it in that manner at home. It has no handle so I'd be afraid I'd drop it when I was out. Then the blender would be worthless because the blade is in the jar.

* Not intended for all food - manual says not to process hard foods such as cheese, crackers or meat. A maximum of 12 tablespoons can be ground at a time. Do not try to mash potatoes, mix stiff dough, whip egg whites, grind raw meat or extract juice from fruit or veggies.
* Container cover has filler cap that can be removed to insert small objects when blending
* Can not use big chunks of ice. You need to break them down. I have an ice tray where the shape is a small circle (half ball) and it was fine. Perhaps this is what you can use those holiday themed ice trays for. Some of those sizes which I have seem I think would work in this.
* NOT dishwasher safe - but easy clean up - rinse, put water and soap in jar, blend for a minute, empty, rinse again and you're done.
* No complicated speeds or choices - one push button
* I can't find it on the box or in the manual but according to Amazon, the motor has 175 watts of power
I just went and made another smoothie! Banana, Vanilla soy milk, little bit of chocolate syrup and instant coffee. Yummy!
This one site has TONS of recipes that you can use with this blender. You just have to play with the recipes because a lot of them are meant to be multiple servings.

While this might not do what a full size blender can, this is a great blender for smoothies, drinks, shakes and to grind coffee. I love that it's small, the cord wraps around the base and I can use this thing at night and not wake up the neighbors!
I just came back from the grocery store and picked up some more fruit... what else can I make???

Fred Frozen Smiles Ice Cube Tray Review

(More customer reviews)GREAT for any dentite! As a licensed practitioner in the moderately-corrupt state of Chicago... err... I mean Illinois, I can attest to the anatomical accuracy of this ice mold. Someone at some point actually made took an impression of (made a mold out of) a well-designed maxillary denture, probably of female origin. I can't attest to the subsequent ice prostheses occlusion without a recipricating arch, but I would imagine it's there. And even then, it's made of ice, so you could probably equilibrate the things relatively easily.
I find it humorous that someone actually complained that the ice melted too fast, but along that line, these ice shapes are perfect for Scotch. I mean perfect. They're the right overall shape and thin enough to slowly and evenly melt, beginning with that sharp nasal introduction followed by a slow and smooth ride to the end.

I purchased this ice cream maker in the hopes that the frozen containers most other automatic machines use would be a thing of the past and I could free up some freezer space. The concept is wonderful, but the execution is horrible. This unit will not freeze ice cream. It simply will not get cold enough. I waited over two hours and still had mush. This is due to the fact that this unit uses the peltier effect to cool rather than a conventional refrigeration system. The process used in this item simply cannot succeed unless you're using it outside in the winter (ambient temperatures below 60 would do it I think). Aside from not being able to do what it was advertised to do the construction quality was extremely poor with fragile plastic throughout. The control panel was nothing more than a decal covering some buttons and it came off entirely when I removed the product from the box. We had to keep it out on the counter as a reference to know what the buttons were for on the front.
I returned this product for a refund.

Wilton Chocolate Pro Electric Melting Pot Review

(More customer reviews)Some time ago, I worked as a pastry chef/candy maker using a very expensive chocolate melter/temperer as one of my equipment staples. I have melted and dipped more chocolate than you could shake a candy box at.
I took a chance and picked up one of these locally (Wilton Chocolate Melter Deluxe) with a melting/warm/off switch. There are no exact temperature controls on this model, no recipes, but the instructions are pretty straight forward. The worst enemy of chocolate is water, which they casually mention in the instruction phamphlet. I'd like to pass along that even just a tiny sputter of water will cause beautiful, satiny melted chocolate to seize up with no recovery at all possible. So if you want to dip fresh fruit, it absolutely must be 100% dry or your chocolate will harden in seconds. Don't even chance a strawberry hull (the green part) being the least bit wet because even just the smallest droplet of water is all it takes to ruin a whole batch of chocolate.
I found the Wilton to melt the chocolate quickly with continual gentle and slow stirring like an expensive chocolate temperer does, using a wooden paddle-like spoon and NOT metal. After all was smoothly melted (I use only organic non-GMO chocolate) and the control was switched onto "warm", the temperature was held well. Again, stirring gently and frequently helps maintain even temperatures throughout your chocolate mixture which is important in keeping your dipping temperature consistent. I dipped over 70 pieces with just 8 oz. of chocolate the first time out with great results.
Another suggestion to help keep "bloom" at bay (the white streaks that can appear on dark and milk chocolates that does not effect flavor) is to set your dipped chocolates away from any air movement. No open windows and out of human traffic where people walk by continually. Even a little bit of air movement can turn a whole batch of newly dipped chocolates into a white bloomin' mess. This is caused by rapid temperature change and/or improper tempering. This unit is not a temperer, but gentle handling can still give good results.
I'm looking forward to making lots of chocolates for the holidays and this little melter gets my whole-hearted vote! Chocolate is an experience and worth not giving up on. If you don't have great success the first time out, try smaller batches and you will get the feel for it. This little melter is a boon to the home chocolatier novice.

My daughter flipped over seeing this on TV. I read the reviews, both on and off Amazon, and decided to give it a shot.
When it arrived, I received the three pieces in good condition. It was not in retail packaging but rather a plain white box. This may bother some, but I was fine with it. Inside the box were three silicone pieces as well as an instruction sheet and an idea/recipe book.
I sprayed the cooking surfaces with nonstick spray. Using a Duncan Hines butter cake mix, I split the batter almost evenly into the top and the bottom. In retrospect, I put too much in the bottom, not realizing how much each of the parts would rise during baking. BTW, the instruction sheet recommends splitting the batter in half. Mixed and baked at 375 degrees as directed by the cake mix instructions and set the timer to 35 minutes. I chose 35 minutes because the instructions advise this time; additionally, the instructions also advise that the top piece will cook faster than the bottom piece.
35 minutes later, I tested the top by inserting a wooden skewer. I found that the top piece was not cooked all the way through, so I lowered the temperature (once again, as directed by the instruction sheet) to 325 and let it cook for another 10 minutes.
After another 10 minutes, I found the top was finished. Removing the filling insert from the top of the bottom mold, I found that the bottom portion had cooked just fine. The result was a ginormous two piece cupcake.
I have no affiliation with whoever makes this product. I don't even like to bake. You'll notice that in my review, I refer to the direction sheet quite a bit. I do that to make a point: while your mileage may vary, the guidance provided with this product is adequate to bake an huge gut-bomb cupcake, which is the whole reason I bought it in the first place.

(More customer reviews)We bought KitchenAid architect series for our whole kitchen. Most of the appliances have been very good. The ice maker we used for about a year before servicing it twice and it needs servicing again. Each time is about $200 through their authorized service company ( a joke). Finally I got smart and turned it off. Now we have a awesome kitchen with a secret. Broken appliance... Try any thing but kitchenaid, (whirlpool) and you'll save yourself some heartache.

(More customer reviews)I like the spout on the pitcher, but that's about it. The handle is so thick I have to pick it up with both hands if the pitcher is half or more full. Also, it is oval and not round so you can't turn the lid to keep it closed. The seller was great, just not a fan of the product.
