(More customer reviews)This is an awesome blender. It blends stuff like you've never seen before and I am really pleased with it. But holy cow is it LOUD!! The cat hates me. I got a pair of earmuffs from the shooting supply place to wear while using it. Maybe overkill, but I think that using it twice a day without them would result in hearing damage eventually. I wish they sold an enclosure for this one like they do for the commercial ones....I'd definitely buy one.
I bought this because I had a juicer and liked it. But I felt that tossing all that pulp and fiber had to be making me miss out on a lot of health benefits. And just trying to spoon some of it back into the juice doesn't work, it's gross. This blender blends whole fruits and vegetables wonderfully, I can still get the fiber and in a drinkable form.
After I bought this, I read a webpage where they talked about blending an avocado WITH the pit, and I tried it. It works, I ended up with an amazingly smooth mousse-like creamy pudding. Not something I'd do every day, but it was very interesting. I have been making kale banana blueberry smoothies for breakfast and it blends everything into one homogenous shake. No bits of leaves, chunks of stuff, etc. I'm enjoying it. I just wish it wasn't so loud.

The first lasted just over a year and started to leak in both water windows and now, after just three months, the second one is doing the same thing. We loved the look so we called Hamilton Beach and talked to some unconcerned representative, who could care less about the malfunction! We were told that all warranty issues go direct to the engineers, but if that was so, why do we have the same issue a year later??? Our solution is cut the cord off, send in $8 with your receipt, get the replacement, sell it on Ebay to fund buying a better kettle by someone else.

(More customer reviews)We purchased this fridge three months ago to replace an older GE Profile fridge. We are overall happy with the fridge although there has been one consistent issue with the ice maker.
Note: This fridge is overall the same as the all stainless model except the sides are painted a matching gray (instead of the sides being complete stainless). Having seen the paint I don't know why anyone opts for the "full wrap" expense as it looks great either way.
Pros:
-Looks: Very nice looking, overall the front fit and finish of this fridge is excellent. The build quality throughout is on par with any fridge in the class.
-Energy efficient: This system is a very energy efficient fridge. As a matter of fact it's rated as about as energy efficient a fridge as you can buy in the states (estimated annual cost to run around $65)
-Excellent features: The measuring water dispenser, options for lighting, cooling, etc on the front control panel are easy to use and well designed. The large container fill spout works great.
-Bins: This thing has huge bins and they are very easy to see in to.
Cons:
-Ice Maker: The in-door ice maker is good. It makes a lot of ice. The problem is that the fill spout on ours (where the water fills the freeze tray) seems to ice up pretty consistently which causes water to rain down in the freezer and coat everything. This requires a complete many many hour defrost to get all the clogged ice bits to thaw and drip out. I'm pretty upset about this as this is a $2,000+ fridge
-Space: Not as roomy as our old GE. I believe this is because of the shelf layout in the fridge. Overall it's good but not excellent. We have always felt like it needed another shelf.
-Silly can holder: American fridges seem to be packed with soda can holders these days (much like cars). This fridge is not ludicrous in the number it has (like some). However the can holder at the top of the fridge door is almost completely useless. The way it holds cans (not that we have any!) is such that if the door is opened or closed quickly the cans fall out (and on your toes or food). My wife tried yogurt and a number of things up there but since the slots are can shaped and we don't really drink beer or soda from cans.. it's a useless shelf
-In-door shelf space: Our old GE Profile could hold a huge amount in it's door. This fridge holds much less. I'm not sure if it's all the space lost to smooth shelf angles or what but we had a heck of time time transplanting what easily fit in our GE to the Whirlpools door.
All in all I like the fridge. Fridges in this class are a balancing act of space, looks, features (ice maker etc), and how you like to store things (french vs side by side vs over-under). This is a good "premium" grade fridge that I would buy over a KitchenAide any day. Although with the ice maker problems in the first three months I'm wishing I'd have opted for the GE (in the same price band).
On a side note Whirlpool has an EXCELLENT online FAQ support section on their website that has cured more than a few of our little "what the heck?!" moments and turned them in to "OH I GET IT!".

Ninja Blender - Black Review

(More customer reviews)I drink a lot of smoothies that contain frozen fruit and various vegetables. I was using a standard blender that could be purchased anywhere for normal household use. It was not powerful enough to handle all of the frozen fruit and items that I threw in it and the motor burnt out very quickly. I purchased the Ninja Blender to replace it, and here is my feedback after using it daily for two weeks:
Perks:
It is very powerful. I can fill it full of frozen fruit, various vegetables and greens, and it blends them very quickly and effortlessly. For that, I love it! It is easy and safe to use, even my children can operate it safely. It has a large pitcher that is easy to pour from. It is easy to clean-no need to disassemble it, the design is brilliant in that the parts are solid and well constructed, and easy to remove from the base to wash.
Downfalls:
It DOES NOT blend to a smooth consistency! If the most important feature of a blender for you is that it blend the contents smoothly, this IS NOT the blender for you. It does break everything down quickly and efficiently-power is not a problem. But no matter how long you blend the contents, they will still be grainy or "minced" at best. In other words, I must still "chew" my smoothie a bit. I believe it is the shape of the blades that are the downfall of this blender.
Because I blend daily and demand a lot from the blender, yet cannot afford the $300-400 units that would blend the way I need them to, I am opting to keep the Ninja. I am surrendering to the fact (for financial reasons) that it will not blend smoothly. I make my smoothies using a two-step process: cycle it through the Ninja first breaking everything up as much as possible, then pouring the amount I want to drink into my Magic Bullet and blending it again to a smooth consistency (I already owned the Magic Bullet, but rarely used it before because it simply wasn't big enough to suit my needs). This works for me because I make a huge Ninja pitcher full in the morning and put it in the fridge, then pour out and blend small amounts to drink in the Magic bullet throughout the day, "fast food" if you will.
It would be a benefit to the manufacturer of the Ninja Blender to construct an additional blade that will fit on the base of the current unit that blends to a smooth consistency.
***UPDATE***
I decided to contact the manufacturer to find out if there was a better blade available for the Ninja Blender. I was unhappy that their customer support was a non-English speaking representative. I could barely understand what he was saying, he could not understand me...I THINK that I discovered there is not another blade available that will puree my food/smoothies to a smooth consistency.
Ultimately, I returned the Ninja Blender. I grew tired of my two-step process described above, and felt it was not worth the money spent versus a less expensive blender that was perhaps not as powerful but would puree to a smooth consistency.
Because of my unpleasant experience with the customer service, and the fact that the blender does not puree, I reduced the rating to 2-star, and would NOT recommend this product for the money spent.
I would not recommend this product.

Our first breakdown was 41 days after purchase.
The second breakdown was (to the day) one year from delivery. Warranty would not cover it because it was 1 year and 4 days from purchase date. Not delivery date but purchase date.
Third breakdown was one year and 54 daays from delivery.
Guess what--we don't give this refrigerator a single recommendation. And by the way, we tried to talk to LG about the number of service calls and their only comment was "have a nice day". They really don't care that they have sold you an inferior product.

(More customer reviews)No, I had not heard of this brand either when I went out looking for a refrigerator to replace my 30 year old GE.
Our problem is space. Even though I certainly wouldn't mind a huge Viking or something, the reality was around 18 cu ft. I went all over the place, looked at every brand and found that most companies spent their best efforts on the bigger models.
Then, I saw a Fisher and Paykell. It was the right size, had a beautiful simple design and the use of interior space was better than others in its size range. It had the desired bottom freezer, the controls were simple and made sense, the trays for fruits and vegetables were easy to access and the glass shelves could be adjusted, removed and cleaned easily.
Style-wise, I was drawn to the clean, curved door design made of smooth metal rather than textured plastic. I needed white, but the stainless is extremely good looking. F&P also now offers models with dispensers in the door.
Note that the doors are not reversible so you have to order the left or right door version.
The glass shelves extend from side to side and slide into little slots. It is easy to slide them out for cleaning or adjustment. Surprisingly, the little plastic dams that surround almost all glass shelves these days are absent on the ends of these shelves. I strongly suggest that you get a couple of shallow plastic trays to hold meat or other drippy things. That is probably a good idea for any fridge, actually.
There is no dedicated meat compartment I suspect a special separate compartment would break up the interior and isn't really needed anyway. The wide expanse of shelves is what makes this interior special.
We took out one of the shelves to free up space for big and tall things.
There are two little lidded compartments in the door that we use for butter and cheese. They are not very big and certainly could have been designed to hold more in the same space they occupy.
The fruit and vegetable trays are lidded and separate, with little adjustable vents to control the humidity. They slide nicely, access is good and cleaning is easy.
We like the bottom freezer. It uses a system of separate drawers, rather than one big bin. This is a good high-end touch and the real drawer sliders make it nicer to use. The bins on other models seemed terribly cheap in comparison.
The lighting in the fridge section is fine. The drawer system for the freezer part precludes a lighting system, at least one that wouldn't be impossibly complex. But, the bins slide out and it is easy to see in them under normal kitchen light.
On another site, a reviewer complained that a glass shelf broke. They do look a little vulnerable as they are so long and thin. However, we stored two turkeys on one shelf with no problems. Tempered glass is very strong and I would think problems would be rare.
There were also a couple of complaints about noise. Our kitchen is like a stage where every sound is projected into the adjacent living room. Still, I can hardly hear it and it is rarely even on anyway. This may be a princess and the pea situation. In our case, the old fridge was 20x noisier, so this is fine.
Operation-wise, we are very happy. The fruits and vegetables do indeed last much longer than before, the ice cream (even Ben & Jerrys) is hard and the ice doesn't stick.
One oddity is that even when the feet are adjusted to tilt the unit back a bit, the doors will not close all the way on their own. The formidable gaskets hold it back. But not to worry. The door-open alarm will not let you forget. It will probably rid your house of rodents and insects.
We are happy with this fridge. It looks great, has about as much utility as possible in its size range and works well. I am hoping it will be reliable.

K-Tec Champ HP3 Professional Blender, Black (Now BlendTec) Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this blender when my Kitchenaid's blender rubber clutch died. (Don't get me started on THAT issue ... another story.) I was hesitant to pay big bucks for a stinkin' blender, but after killing off several "best on the market" products, I figured it was worth the money to have something with the power to do what I want to do (things a blender SHOULD do for heaven's sake), and an eight-year warranty to boot.
My first thought after trying my new blender: whoa, this thing is LOUUUUUUDDDD!!!! My second: no way--it even grinds coffee?!!! I was impressed and wondered what it COULDN'T do. Would it clean my windows? Mow the lawn?
I tried a smoothy from rock hard frozen strawberries which would have put my Kitchenaid in the grave. It made the smoothest smoothie (not even a trace of a strawberry seed!) in seconds with no stopping and starting or having to shift the contents.
I remember how HEAVY and awkward my Kitchenaid was to lift and clean. The K-Tec jar is some kind of lightweight indestructible plastic (same as the ones you see at Starbucks) with the blade and metal parts permanently attached. There is nothing to take apart when cleaning, and the base is broader than other blenders so it is easy to get stuff out of it. The blade itself has only two arms (not four like most) which releases thicker foods easily.
After reading the manual, I am amazed at the capabilities of this thing beyond typical blender uses. I can also see that I will use it for more than smoothies and hummus. This one will stay out on the counter for sure.
And for you Kitchenaid owners who are frustrated with that rubber clutch thingie ... this one doesn't have one!

(More customer reviews)Excellent piece of machinery, build quality is top notch, unit is quiet as a church mouse. Most importantly, the cooling capability is restaurant quality. The two zones works incredibly well. Anyone who knocks this fridge because of ice production is in need of an Igloo, because this it produces boat loads of ice. Recovery time may not be super quick but name a fridge that.
FIrst Impressions:
1) cooling is excellent, cools evenly food lasts a long time.
2) Power Cool/Freeze feature is sheer genius. Froze my melted ice cream in less than an hour
3) Door Seal system is designed to last and function as it should
4) Freezer has loads of space, a little tricky to find stuff, but two tiers of storage help this quite a bit
5) Water tastes clean, clear, crisp and refreshing. Did a side by side taste test with Poland Spring, couldn't tell the difference
6) slow-to-bright LEDs are a wonderful feature, very slick
7) One of the full size shelves in the fridge is potentially useless
8) Wine bottle holder IS useless and so is the egg bin
9) EZ open handle on Freezer makes it effortless to open door, all others I tried required a good tug, which adversely effects seals.
10) Door alarm is very useful

(More customer reviews)I make a lot of bread using my KitchenAid mixer, and for years I have tolerated my 4.5 quart Ultra Power KitchenAid mixer. Anytime a recipe called for 6 cups of flour, I knew I would have to finish the recipe by hand. The 4.5 quart bowl just couldn't handle that much dough. I just purchased the Pro 600 with the spiral dough hook, and all I can say is WOW! The new spiral hook works totally different than the older C-hook. No longer does the dough "slap" against the side of the bowl. Instead the sprial dough hook brings the dough to the middle of the bowl for mixing and kneading. You can see how much more effective this tool is. I have already ran 5 different bread recipes through this mixer, and I haven't had to finish any of the by hand yet. Just enough to shape the dough before proofing. The 6 quart bowl is a must have for bread makers! Now I just have to figure out how to give away all this bread!

**UPDATE - Seller contacted me after this review and offered to send me a replacement filter, free of charge and free shipping. It arrived VERY quickly (within 3 days of the email). New filter works great, so the 1st filter problem must have just been a fluke. I would order from this seller again. Good product and great customer service.

We should haved bought it sooner. 3 liters is big enough for the dozen or so that use the hot water. The water indicator is easy to see so it has never gone dry. The time it takes to boil first thing in the morning hasn't been a problem because it is better than waiting for the tea kettle to boil all day long. We solved the no on/off switch by putting it on a surge protector that we turn off at the end of the day.
